The time for change is now
Shields of Faith is devoted to combatting the rise of hate crimes against individuals and communities. In 2020, the FBI reported 8,873 hate crime incidents, compared to 7,314 reported hate crime incidents in 2016. One group in the study reported a staggering 149% increase in 2020 alone. These hate crimes motivated by race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or other characteristics are tearing apart communities, creating fear, and spreading violence. The impact of the current social climate has many feeling unsafe, unsupported, and marginalized. Shields of Faith understands the people's need for change, and Shields of Faith believes the people deserve action.

There’s no place for hate
Shields of Faith’s practical approach is more effective than legislation alone because of its direct engagement with those most affected by hate crimes. Shields of Faith sees first-hand the obstacles faced by families and individual and how to best address them. By meeting with local communities and gathering valuable feedback, we’re able to craft effective action plans to protect communities and promote diversity. Shields of Faith is concentrating on immediate solutions with dynamic public safety initiatives, hate crime deterrent tactics, and trauma support for hate crime victims.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.”
— Martin Luther King Jr.

Our 2023 promise
Shields of Faith aims to fight all hate and injustice, from discrimination to bias-motivated violence. We know that unchecked hate based on a person’s race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion has devastating impacts on our communities. This is why, at this critical moment, Shields of Faith is focusing our efforts in combatting anti-Asian hate and xenophobia.
Nonjudgmental support
Shields of Faith has a network of certified Chaplains trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). CISD is a form of psychological support and assistance offered to anyone immediately after a traumatic event. Through this technique survivors are given the opportunity to work through and process their emotions, reducing core stress responses and the psychological consequences such as PTSD and anxiety.
